Chateau Pontet Canet Pauillac 2008

Considered one of the wines of the vintage by Robert Parker (96pts) this is from a producer that has been very highly regarded for some years now.  This is still very youthful, so decant for a couple of hours if drinking now and it will open up to reveal aromas and flavours of cassis, blackcurrant, tobacco, graphite and toast, along with some lovely lifted notes and a long, satisfying finish. It’s well structured with firm tannins and bright acidity and will develop further in bottle for another decade or two.
