Anthony Vertadier Mabille takes over our tasting table this Saturday 12-4pm!

We are delighted to have a guest host at the tasting table this Saturday. Anthony Vertadier Mabille is one of the most knowledgeable people we know when it comes to the wines of France, and he’ll have some of his fantastic wines open this Saturday. Anthony will have a duo of excellent Burgundy white wines alongside four superb reds encompassing three of the most classic French wine regions.

From Vignerons des Terres Secretes in southern Burgundy, Anthony will have the Macon Blanc 2016. This is a thoroughly crisp, unoaked Chardonnay that is made by one of the best co-operatives in France. The second white wine Anthony will be showcasing is the Macon-Vergisson ‘La Roche’ from Domaine Saumaize-Michelin 2016. From the small estate run by Roger and Christine Saumaize this wine is Biodynamic (organic and then some!), with a small proportion of barrel ageing, and genuinely hand made. A beautiful wine!

The reds open this weekend will include the Chateau Larroque 2012 from Bordeaux. With six years of age under it’s belt this wine is now perfect for drinking this Christmas. Anthony will then have two wines from France’s Rhone valley. From southern Rhone we will have the Domaine Lafond Roc-Epine Lirac 2016. This is a fantastic Grenache blend from one of the best vintages in southern Rhone for years. Then from northern Rhone we’ll have another modern classic, Domaine Yann Chave Crozes-Hermitage ‘Le Rouvre’ 2015. Jon tasted this wine a couple of months ago and has been talking about it ever since. Lastly, Anthony will open up one of the grand vintage wines from his Burgundy portfolio. The Domaine Bertrand Ambroise Nuits Saint Goerges 2007 is the epitome of well-matured and richly characterful Burgundy red.

With such a fantastic line-up of wines to taste we’ll be sure to see you at the tasting table this Saturday!

Free Supplier Tasting! This Saturday, 10th November, 12pm-4pm

This coming Saturday we are extremely pleased to have one of our favourite suppliers take over our tasting table!

James Wilson represents a fantastic portfolio of wines from around the world, six of which we have chosen for you to taste this weekend.

For the white wines James will be opening the Chateau de la Tour Penet, Macon-Perrone, a lovely single village Burgundy Chardonnay from the 2016 vintage, as well as the always excellent Joseph Mellot Sancerre ‘La Graveliere’ – a wine that needs no introduction!

For the red wine lovers James will have four fantastic wines to suit everyone’s taste. From Errazuriz in Chile we will have the Aconcagua Costa Pinot Noir 2016. Made by one of Chile’s finest Pinot Noir producers this wine has scored 93/94 points from two of the wine world’s top critics. This is a classy wine that offers outstanding value.

Next up for reds we will have Laure Colombo’s fantastic Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2016. Coming from a much celebrated wine-making family Laure produces wines with a feminine elegance and made with food in mind.

For the third red wine on taste we will travel a little further south in Europe to the legendary Rioja region of Spain. The Contino Reserva Rioja 2012 is a very impressive wine indeed. Top wine writer James Suckling awarded this wine 94 points and we would agree with that this is a truly great Rioja red.

The last red to taste this weekend comes from the Robert Oatley wine-making dynasty. The Finisterre Syrah 2013 hails from the Great Southern region of Western Australia and has won a host of awards over the last year, including a place in the Wine Merchant Top 50 Australian Wines 2018.

With such a superb range of wines on taste, and the chance to talk to the man who knows these wines in fine detail, we look forward to seeing you this Saturday afternoon.

All the best,

Paul & Jonathan
