Description

In the heel of Italy, Manduria is considered the birth place of the native Primitivo grape but despite this wine having Zin in the title, it has nothing to do with the Californian name for Puglia’s most famous red grape variety! Whilst the high-performing Produttori di Manduria co-operative makes high quality examples of Primitivo, it is also well versed in producing fascinating whites like this, from the white Fiano grape.

It’s an example of how good Fiano can be on this side of Southern Italy, offering a different but no-less attractive counterpoint to those produced from the variety in the Campania region. Intense and complex sweet apple and pear perfume with some soft orange hints too. Dry, well structured and flavours that reflect the delicious aroma. A great pairing with fish, shellfish, chicken or pork.

It was recently voted in the top 100 wines sold by independent wine merchants. Here’s what the judges had to say:

Floral restrained nose, attractive fruit on the palate, apricots and almonds, slightly tangy, lovely texture and superb balance. Really rather good. This is really fine wine with the variety’s typical depth and refreshing acidity.
