The twin Loire appellations of Sancerre and Pouilly Fume are the the home of Sauvignon Blanc. We might delight in this grape from New Zealand, South Africa or Chile, but it’s hard to beat the original, especially when it’s as good as this one from Francois Le Saint. This is made using grapes from organic old vines which are vinified using indigenous yeasts. Cut grass, green pepper and citrus fruit on the nose. Elegant fruit on the palate, with saline notes, green pepper and smoky mineral finish.
